ARETHA FRANKLIN TO SING FOR THE POPE!

ARETHA FRANKLIN

"The Queen of Soul"

sings for

Pope Francis

"The Shepherd of Souls"

in Philadelphia

using one of her classic hits

as a perfect introduction for

The United States Hierarchy

just kidding (sort of)

I meant this one

or would this one be better?

Hey, at least it's Aretha and not Justin Bieber or One Direction . . .

  1. I can think of at least ONE Bishop from New England for whom the 2nd song would mean a lot! Traveling freeways was a hobby of His Excellency's! In fact, many used to call him "Truck Stop". I'm sure some of us here can guess who THAT is. Can't we, Janet?

    1. There was talk years ago about the emeritus emeritus' final resting place...no not the cathedral crypt, but the triangular patch of land separating 95 N from 95 S. Given the proclivity to traveling the highway and byways and train stations and rest areas and his personal favorite, under the bridge trolling, something on a highway was thought to be perfect.

This is not perhaps too well known, but did you know he was personal chaplain and lifeguard to the YMCA.....over the bridge? Spent hours rescuing souls from the shower room.

    2. Memories......then we had the lifeguard to the lifeguard...speaking of Aretha Franklin.....the ever memorable Patti Page.....with her salute to the emeritus emeritus

    3. Ooh hello my friends! My ears were ringing and now I see why. Mmmmmm those were certainly the days. Even Mr Mayor knew our favorite spot...mmmmmm? Well these days our vision and our arthritis keep us close to home. But those memories help keep me going.

  2. It's no coincidence that Fr Z is out of town for Francis' US visit, he would rather that than have to say a good word about him. Sour grapes!

I thought Francis was meant to be using the new wooden ferula for overseas visits in future but he's using the JP2 one in the U.S.

  4. How about Aretha sings a song in honor of Catholic women--RESPECT!

  5. This is completely unrelated to anything here, but I just have to post it somewhere. Supertradmum has a new blog with a closed, private forum called "Shulamite Women" where she advises women who are married to Catholic priest (or are mothers of priest or seminarians because we all know mothers/wives same thing). Gosh, what do you think they talk about. She clearly believes that what married people do is naughty. Sometimes it is horrifying what passes as Catholic.

  6. Who can explain a fetish?
It is the internet. Nothing surprises me. It does sound super-kinky though. ;)

  7. Hey wow... ElizD is a dedicated celibate too. I wonder if this superturdmum isn't an alter ego for dear sweet Lizzie.

  8. What was the name of the 2nd song Aretha sang?

  9. What a sight to behold the fearless Fr Jim giving a magnificent serve to the cowardly Lard Ass' s reference to the skewed piece of doggerel from the Invert at Acton. Jim proceeds to belt 'Benedetta' the resident assistant Harpy clean out of the ball park.
Hagan lio, much to the disgust of the Control Freak.

    1. How has Father Jim not been banned? Does he have dirt on Zed?

    2. I have thought that Fr. Jim is Lacy-boy's alter ego.
That narcissicist would never let another member of the clergy one up him.
It is a game that he is playing on the minions. Fr. Jim is a sock puppet.

    3. I think that Zed is incapable of saying reasoned and articulate things so I doubt that.
