NUNS CAN STAY ON THE BUS: FRANCIS CALLS OFF THE DOGS

Fr Z completely missed this one. Ditto RETROrate. And poor Reverend Mother M. John Cunniwicke can barely run her own convent these days. Or maybe they're all on six-pack #3 given the day's principal observance in Krazy Katholic Konvert Land!

But while Georg and the Bavarian Ooompah Band were swilling steins out back for Big Benny's 88th, over at the (otherwise vacant) Apostolic Palace, there was quite an interesting (so it seems) meeting going on.
"So, listen, Sisters, thanks so much for keeping those nuts busy until I could get a handle on things here!"
Apparently Francis told Gerhard Ludwig Cardinal Döberman-Pinscher to get off the bus and take Seattle and Hartford with him (hey, if you had made it to either of those places thinking they were stepping stones to something Bigger and Better - almost any place would be - only to find they were Dead Ends, you’d want to be on a few committees too! And Poor Paprika has hockey practice . . . But I digress.)
So it was back on the bus:
The news was greeted with great joy in some places:
In other places, not so much (from plain old Eeerie to just plain Terrifying). There's something lovely about the traditional Dominican habit. But who knew it could get so windy in Nashville? Geesh!

So while the Nuns' Bus rolls on, it's back to enjoying the sunny weather in Seattle, the cultural perks of the Nutmeg State, and the rigors of gay exorcisms.
Win, win, win. win. Everybody wins!  (Except maybe the clergy of Seattle and Hartford and the gay couples of Illinois.)

  2. It must be really hard to be an unassigned mendicant diocesan thousands of miles from home, and have everything you stand for--luxury accommodation, internal dissension, misogyny, self-enrichment, superficial nostalgia, general sourpussing--all shot down by a boss who just won't listen to the spirit of the times.

Just need to hold out a couple more years and the natural solution will come to pass. Let's face it, even those acting like they get the picture, are still a bunch of entitled careerists who will not make the same "mistake" again. The next pope will be another John Paul II. Younger, strong, imposing, and traditionalist.

God help us. Grant Pope Francis good health and a long glorious reign.

  4. Deo gratias! Pope Francis has brought the mandate in regard to the LCWR to a peaceful, very Catholic conclusion.

The LCWR agreed to accept Rome's reforms in regard to grave LCWR errors related to liturgy, theology and doctrine.

Dogs had never been unleashed on the Sisters.

Everybody knew that the Sisters' overall care of God's poorest and weakest living people was beautiful and inspirational.

Everybody also knew that grave, anti-Catholic elements (horrific pro-abortion advocates, unorthodox liturgical, doctrinal and theological members) existed within the LCWR.

The official statements today by Rome and the LCWR rejected the nonsense that left-wing and right-wing spin doctors had for some time attached to the Rome-LCWR investigation.

Left-wing spin doctors were proved wrong today in that Rome had never unleashed "dogs" upon the Sisters. Rome was never out to destroy the Sisters.

The LCWR was never blameless in regard to grave liturgical, theological and doctrinal errors.

Right-wing spin doctors were proved wrong today in that the LCWR was never devoid of orthodox Sisters.

Right-wing spin doctors were proved wrong today in that the LCWR hated Rome and the Church and would not accept Rome's final decision in the matter at hand.

In between the "LCWR hates Catholicism" and the "Rome has unleashed the dogs on the blameless LCWR" is the truth as confirmed today by Rome's official statement.

The majority of Sister love Jesus and His True Church. They wish to abide by Rome's rulings. They wish to correct the horrific errors that have been spread by certain Sisters.

The word today from Rome acknowledged that there were "challenging" moments during the mandate, but each party had longed for the peace solution that arrived today.

As Gerhard Cardianl Müller said today, “the Congregation is confident that LCWR has made clear its mission to support its member institutes by fostering a vision of religious life that is centered on the person of Jesus Christ and is rooted in the Tradition of the Church.”

The Cardinal continued that the above will make "religious women and men radical witnesses to the Gospel".

As the loyal son of Holy Mother Church that he is, Pope Francis today made clear that the LCWR must adhere to the teachings of the True Church.

The Sisters must implement the reforms ordered by Pope Francis.

In turn, as Rome made clear today, the Sisters' overall inspiring witness to Jesus and His Holy Catholic Church will only grow stronger.

    Deo gratias for Pope Francis!

Deo gratias for the LCWR for accepting in humble Catholic fashion the vital corrections/reforms that were required to ensure that the Sisters remain holy witnesses to Jesus Christ and His True Church.

    As Father said, "everybody wins".

      Hello Mark,
Just checking in from frolicking in the autumn mists in a land called Honah Lee . . .

How many time a day do you have to feed your pet unicorns?

Also, where do you buy your strings and sealing wax and other fancy stuff? I have had no luck finding these on amazon.com. Thanks!

  5. Hello,

    Puff the Magic Dragon.

Just checking in from the Vatican's official coverage of the Rome-LCWR "agreement".

Forget about Amazon.com for your search of strings and sealing wax.

    Instead, go here:

    http://en.radiovaticana.va/news/2015/04/16/final_report_on_leadership_conference_of_women_religious/1137220

You will find that the LCWR agreed to the following reforms demanded by Pope Francis:

-- At LCWR, the "choice of topics and speakers" will be carried out to ensure orthodoxy in regard to the "Church's Faith and mission". The LCWR practice of having permitted unorthodox teachings and declarations at "LCWR-sponsored events" will cease.

-- LCWR agreed to Pope Francis' demand that LCWR speakers "must employ the ecclesial language of Faith".

-- The LCWR agreed to Pope Francis' demand to "a revised process for the selection of Outstanding Leadership Award".

-- The LCWR agreed to Pope Francis' demand that the LCWR enact reforms that will ensure liturgical orthodoxy at "LCWR Assemblies and other gatherings".

-- The LCWR agreed to Pope Francis' demand to enact reforms to ensure LCWR's adherence to the Church's "Liturgy of the Hours in religious communities".

-- The LCWR agree to Pope Francis' demand that orthodox theologians will review LCWR publications to safeguard "theological integrity".

-- The LCWR agreed to Pope Francis' demand that the LCWR require "a sound doctrinal foundation".

Those are just a few of the various reforms that Pope Francis demanded of the LCWR.

To their credit, the LCWR agreed to Pope Francis' reforms to ensure LCWR orthodoxy.

Rome and the LCWR noted that from the beginning of the Mandate, "our extensive conservations were marked by a spirit of prayer, love for the Church, mutual respect, and cooperation. We found our conversations mutually beneficial".

That, and all of the above reforms, destroyed the left-wing and right-wing lies that related to the Mandate.

The left-wing spin that all was fine and dandy within the LCWR proved false.

The fact that the LCWR agreed to Pope Francis' reforms put to lie the right-wing spin that the LCWR hated Rome and the Church and would refuse to agree with needed orthodox reforms.

The fact that the LCWR acknowledged today that from the beginning of Rome-LCWR conversations, there existed a "spirit of prayer, love for the Church, mutual respect, and cooperation".

That destroyed the left-wing lie that Rome had set the dogs upon the LCWR.

At the same time, the right-wing lie, that the LCWR would not cooperate with Rome, was destroyed.

The major reforms demanded by Pope Francis will root out the acknowledged grave unorthodox problems that exist within part of the LCWR.

As Father said, we all won today. Holy Mother Church won today.

The solid holy elements within the LCWR will remain in place. If the LCWR obey Pope Francis, the LCWR's unorthodox elements will fade into oblivion.

That will make the LCWR holier and of greater benefit to Jesus Christ and His True Church.

    Deo gratias!

  6. Yes, the female religious orders in the United States, and, for that matter, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe, are dying. They are fading into oblivion rapidly.

That is why on April 15, 2013, Pope Francis "unleashed the dogs" (as certain folks wish us to believe) upon the LCWR when he reaffirmed the CDF's assessment of the LCWR.

That is why His Holiness yesterday demanded that the LCWR enact major reforms to at least grant to the Sisters a fighting chance to change course.

Should the LCWR obey Pope Francis and enact the major reforms that His Holiness demanded, then the Sisters may possibly heal their horrific self-inflicted wounds.

We will see as to whether the Sisters are able to accept orthodoxy and reverse their light-speed fall into oblivion.

In the meantime, female religious orders attached to the Traditional Latin Mass have continued their rapid expansion.

God, via his holy TLM, inspires holy Catholic women to embrace the religious life.

    Deo gratias!

I was briefly involved in the TLM (The Wilderness Years, as I call it) but don't have any recent contact, so I googled to see how things are going with the TLM here in Brit-land. I found a recent snippet from a local Latin Mass Society rep who conceded that "ironically, LMS membership has declined since Summorum...". Keep those rose-tinted specs on, Mark, but you had better have a back-up plan (that doesn't involve the SSPX) if things go completely tits-up for the old Mass.

All I know is that Pope Francis has praised Summorum Pontificum. His Holiness has stated that the TLM is a "treasure for the entire Church". He also pledged that he would do everything that he could to promote the TLM.

Therefore, I will continue to wear Pope Francis' rose-tinted specs and view the overwhelmingly positive holy success of Summorum Pontificum as confirmed by Pope Francis.

I will rely not upon your assessment of the TLM Movement. I will rely upon Pope Francis' positive assessment of the TLM Movement.

As His Holiness Pope Francis declared, the TLM is a treasure for the entire Church.

    2. When Cardinal Bernardin received his diagnosis of returned and soon-to-be-fatal cancer, he flew to Rome to tell Pope John Paul II personally and to make suggestions as to his successor. According to those in a position to know these things, John Paul called Bernard Law to get the name of a successor who would NOT continue Bernardin's style of ecclesial shepherding but someone who would whip the sheep into shape. Law suggested George whom he had befriended in Mississippi days, made coordinator of the "Circle of Fellows" at Law's "Center for the Study of Faith and Culture" in Boston, then Bishop of Yakima (with which George had absolutely no relationship or history, just another stepping-stone gig), then Archbishop of Portland, Oregon briefly, then Chicago and the inevitable Red Hat.

How ironic that history should repeat itself, only in a way not so favorable to George. Diagnosed with returning cancer, suggesting his successor, Pope Francis calls O'Malley/Wuerl (Burke having been sacked), and someone named who would have been the last person George would have wanted.

And yes, I do know PERSONALLY, people to whom he showed NO MERCY, indeed not even any Christian compassion or human decency. RIP.

Let us pray that the LCWR remains true to their word as they implement the major reforms that Pope Francis demanded they institute to help them remain upon the path of orthodoxy.

His Holiness wishes for the LCWR to root themselves in Holy Tradition.

Again, please pray for the LCWR...may they obey Pope Francis as they implement the major reforms needed to destroy the unorthodox practices to which the LCWR had adhered.

I encourage obedience, particularly mine, to His Holiness Pope Francis.

I hope and pray that the LCWR will "root" themselves in "Tradition" as Rome expressed yesterday.

Women religious Orders (except those attached to the Traditional Latin Mass) within the United States are in massive decline.

Their disobedience to the True Church and rejection of Holy Tradition has resulted in the horrific collapse.

The Sisters do not inspire vocations. Catholic women don't want any part of their dying Orders.

Pro-abortion, aged "Sisters" who parade about in pants as they promote goddess worship have ZERO ability to inspire vocations.

Conversely, TLM-attached holy Catholic women continue to enter into the religious as the LCWR is dying.

I hope and pray that the major reforms that Pope Francis demanded of LCWR at least reduce the light-speed at which the LCWR is barreling toward virtual death.

As Rome demanded yesterday, the LCWR must obey the teachings of the True Church.

Note to LCWR: Dear Sisters, embrace Holy Tradition as Pope Francis demanded yesterday. Perhaps you will then find yourselves removed from life-support.

Your 225 word response consists of 10 words encouraging obedience to the Pope while being evasive of the issue of the utter contempt that the "Holy Latin Mass" crowd shows for the rest of the Universal Church.

You continue chiding, patronizing and demeaning the women calling on their specific obedience.

Why are you so exhaustively wordy in your efforts to impugn these women and so silent about clericalist priests?

  11. Dear AnthonyMunday,

I don't require a "back-up" plan as Pope Francis has praised Summorum Pontificum and labeled the Traditional Latin Mass a "treasure" for the entire Church...a treasure that he pledged to promote.

The Catholic Church teaches that the TLM enjoys its rightful place in the heart of and daily life of the Church.

God has inspired tremendous growth in His Traditional Latin Mass.

Deo gratias, with Pope Francis on the side of the "treasure" (Pope Francis' word) that is the Traditional Latin Mass, the growth of God's holy TLM is to be expected.

By the way, should the LCWR wish to reverse without question the virtual extinction toward which they have barreled, then they need only to attach themselves to the "treasure" (Pope Francis' word) that is the Traditional Latin Mass.

The LCWR should join the club...that is, the ever-increasing TLM-related women religious Orders who are on the rise throughout the world.

Deo gratias for the great growth of TLM-related women religious Orders.

Come on, LCWR, end the process of your self-inflicted virtual extinction.
