There is an email being circulated about an alleged interview by MSNBC personality Chris Matthews with Cardinal Bergoglio before the most recent conclave. The email, probably forwarded from a conservative friend has the subject similar to "Pope Schools Chris Matthews" or "Pope Slams Loony Libs". It's usually a good thing to check these things out before hitting the "FORWARD" button.
In other non-news the perpetually blogging (does he do it in his sleep?) Père Zed waxes eloquent on such important topics such as the color of altar boy cassocks, a reader poll on preserving an all male sanctuary, his monthly expenses and his massive Twitter followers. He also takes yet another opportunity to lash out at the concept of deaconesses, and once again promotes his favorite text that agrees with his particular point of view. I have ordered a used copy of this book, as I believe it is possibly the only one (currently in print) on the subject that I have not yet read and do not yet posses. Having done significant reading on the topic, I plan to post on this issue from a purely historical and academic perspective.
